Effective Industrial Access Control with FRANK from Fortress Interlocks
Unauthorised access to production areas can lead to unnecessary machine downtime. With the effective industrial access control FRANK, only authorised staff can access the plant, using already existing ID cards.

Without registering events, it is often not possible to determine the cause of machine downtime and take action accordingly. This can make it difficult to find out who has been in the protected area and how long it has taken to correct the problem.
The FRANK software records access and access times, providing better productivity analysis. This also gives a better insight into when preventive maintenance should best be carried out. FRANK can also be used for monitoring inspections and taking samples.
Access control systems can be complex to integrate into existing industrial networks and door switches. External card readers are often not robust enough for industrial applications. In addition, additional wiring, network interfaces and reprogramming of PLCs are always required.
FRANK is fully integrated into our existing amGard Pro product group of robust safety switches. This avoids additional cabling, interfaces to IT networks and reprogramming of the PLCs. With just one simple industrial controller, FRANK manages access and provides simple inputs to the existing PLC, just like a pushbutton.
The FRANK RFID module can be placed in any available push-button position of our amGard Pro safety switches. The user can select the type of ID card (e.g. 125 Hz) and use the outputs to grant access.
In addition to controlling the entry and exit of production environments, FRANK RFID modules can also be used to monitor other operations in the process. For example, for the use of an HMI. FRANK works independently of the safety switch inputs, using only non-safety contacts.
FRANK can also be used in combination with Fortress safety keys and other Lockout-Tagout solutions.
