Maximum safety at Walibi Holland
Securing the rollercoaster UNTAMED with a Trapped Key Interlock System
Some time ago, we equipped the iconic UNTAMED roller coaster at Walibi Holland attraction park with a Fortress Trapped Key Interlock system to ensure the safety of workers at all times.
We went to Walibi Holland to create a video about the installed Trapped Key System. In this video, our sales engineer Rick de Jonge takes you on a tour and explains exactly how we ensure that no one can enter the restricted area under the roller coaster while it is operational.
Curious how the Trapped Key System is used here? Watch the video and discover it for yourself!
How does the system work?
The installed Trapped Key System consists of one key switch in the control station, a key exchange box, and six double door locks with safety keys on the access doors to the restricted zone.

Step 1: Shutting down the roller coaster
Before access to the area under the roller coaster is possible, the roller coaster must first be shut down. This is done with a key switch mounted in the control station. Turning and removing the key from this key switch shuts down the ride and prevents it from moving during maintenance work.
The green master key from the key switch is then placed into the nearby key exchange box.

Step 2: The Key Exchange Box
Placing the master key into the key exchange box releases six blue access keys. These access keys allow access to the six doors leading to the maintenance zone. The key exchange box ensures that the access keys can only be obtained when the roller coaster is shut down.

Step 3: Access and Safety Key
The access key is inserted into the double door lock at the access door and turned, releasing a safety key. You then take the safety key with you into the maintenance zone, preventing anyone from accidentally getting locked in!

Step 4: Leaving the Area
After the maintenance is completed and the zone is safely vacated, the safety key is returned to the double door lock on the access door. This locks the door and releases the blue access key. The access key can then be placed back into the key exchange box.
Step 5: Restarting the Roller Coaster
Once all access keys have been returned to the key exchange box, the master key can be removed and placed back into the key switch. This allows the staff to safely restart the ride.
In addition to securing roller coasters, we also secure many other types of machines, warehouses, production lines, and even animal enclosures! Are you looking for a good solution to secure a machine, roller coaster, or animal enclosure? We would be happy to visit and discuss all the possibilities and select the right solution that meets your needs and requirements.
